Addy succeeds Andrew Kuyk and will take over the role from 22 August – Kuyk will help to ensure continuity during a handover period. Recruitment is already underway for a new full-time editor for Food Manufacture.

Commenting on Addy’s appointment, PTF chairman Rob Smith said: “We are delighted to welcome Rod to PTF. He has been a distinguished reporter and commentator on the food industry for many years and will now have the opportunity to make the news as well. His insights and experience will bring a fresh perspective to PTF’s work in what remain hugely challenging times”

Editorial lead

Addy has spent the past four years leading editorial at Food Manufacture for digital data and events business William Reed, developing the publication’s multi-media editorial strategy and content for the brand while curating extensive industry, agency and Government contacts.

His in-depth and extensive knowledge of the food and drink supply chain has been forged through a storied 20-year long career with the business working across a range of publications, including the Grocer, Food Navigator and Meat Trades Journal.

Over the years, he has covered events ranging from the 2001 foot-and-mouth-disease outbreak and the 2013 horsemeat scandal to Brexit and, lately, the impact of COVID-19 and the war between Ukraine and Russia.

‘Serving and working with industry’

On his departure from Food Manufacture, Addy said: “Soaring inflation, the tight labour market and the effects of climate change, the Ukraine war, the pandemic and Brexit mean PTF members need timely information and a high profile as much as ever. I look forward to dedicating my time to serving them and working with industry, Government and other stakeholders to address these issues and meet those needs.
